Considering the importance of the crack width in the durability of concrete members, assessing the risk of early-age thermal cracking is crucial.
This webinar focuses on the assessment of the risk of early-age thermal cracking in a high-speed rail viaduct. The viaduct is a post-tensioned voided concrete slab of 620m length. The construction method used is span by span.
To evaluate this effect 2D and 3D FEM models are introduced to simulate the whole bridge, the tendons and the construction process. Sensitivity analysis has been completed to study the different parameters that can influence the origination of those early cracks.
