How to transfer a DIANA license

Transferring a DIANA license means moving the license permanently from one central networked DIANA license server to another one. Transferring a license is not to be confused with detaching a license. This guide assumes you have properly installed and available two networked DIANA license servers, one which contains the DIANA license (referred to as “the source license server”), and one which should get the DIANA license (referred to as “the target license server”).

1. On the target license server, download the RUS tool from the DIANA Downloads page, start the RUS tool, click on the “Transfer License” tab, and select a location and filename to save recipient information in.

2. Click on the “Collect and Save Information” button. You will see the confirmation as mentioned below.

3. On the source license server, go to http://localhost:1947, click on “Sentinel Keys” and search for the key with underlying products and features you want to transfer to the target license server.

4. On the source license server, start the RUS tool. Select the key that you want to transfer, select the recipient information file that you generated on the target license server, and select a location and filename of the “license transfer file”.

5. Click on the “Generate License Transfer File” button. You will receive a request confirmation dialog. Press the “YES” button; you will receive the confirmation message that the “license transfer file” is generated.

6. Press the “OK” button. Go to http://localhost:1947 and check that the license is no longer available on the source license server.

7. On the target license server, start the RUS tool. Click the “Apply License File” tab, select the “license transfer file” you generated, and click on the “Apply” button. You will the confirmation as mentioned below.

8. Go to http://localhost:1947 and check that the license is available on the target license server.
