Guidelines for the analysis of historical masonry structures

The need of modeling and analysis of historical constructions is a key issue in the challenging issues of conservation and restoration. Here, the possibilities of analysis of historical constructions are addressed for two simple examples (a masonry wall loaded out-of-plane and a masonry arch. Several case studies, of different complexity levels are also presented, illustrating the application of different levels of sophistication. Finally, general recommendations for modeling are given.
