This sessions illustrates the procedures adopted in DIANA for the analysis of the structural behaviour resulting from earthquake loads.
After considering the background theory, a case study of a masonry building situated in the northern part of the Netherlands is utilised to demonstrate the range of functionality available in DIANA for modelling such a problem. In this case, the functionality includes: RSA (linear), pushover and time history analyses.
In the specific case of masonry, the connections of the specific building parts are relevant. Another key aspect is how the material properties are modelled and how to comply with the EC8 Code and the Dutch Annex 9998.
