DHV/D3BN requested to perform an ultimate strength analysis of a concrete floor in the Sara building in Amsterdam. The floor was modeled with solid elements. Steel reinforcement grids were defined using the embedded reinforcement function in DIANA. A geometrical and physical nonlinear analysis was performed using the total strain model for the concrete and the von Mises plasticity model for the steel reinforcements. The analysis predicted maximum deflection, cracking and plastic failure at both operational and top-loading levels.
